Happy Saturday

And what a beautiful Saturday it is, the sun is shining and I have the whole weekend stretching in front of me with nothing to do but sand a bedroom floor, a strangely appealing idea.

But I also have to introduce a few new chairs and this particular one makes me go a bit weak at the knees.

I pretty much love all the chairs I do, but this one I really, really love. I think it's a combination of the two  velvets, the gorgeous yellow, the beautiful patina on the wood and the gap in the back. What ever it is - it works!

Suzy Chair: 1950's occasional chair £280

I've been pretty busy, that's not the only chair I've finished!

This is a another cocktail chair and has followed the floral theme of the Avril Chair, although a bit more masculine and would work very well in a more monochrome set up.

McCarthy Chair: 1940's restored cocktail chair £480

The McCarthy Chair is a very high quality 1940's cocktail chair with an elm frame which is in perfect condition. It has been upholstered in white linen on the sides and reverse and the inside front and seat have been covered in a stunning floral, monochrome pattern with two small white buttons.

Last but by no means least is this unusual curved back chair which has a truly beautiful shape.

I seem to have developed a bit of a velvet fetish at the moment which, combined with the fact I also happened to get my hands on some 100% cotton Italian velvet, I have gone a bit velvet crazy.  It is soooo soft and luxurious I have to resist continually stroking it.

Wilfred Chair: 1950's restored curve back arm chair £600

I popped some of the same floral, monochrome linen on the back to match the dark grey/brown velvet on the front and it looks great. Again, quite a masculine chair despite the flowers!

I've double piped the entire chair in the velvet, as you can see in the picture, and this really adds to the general smart appearance of the chair.

Right enough larking around with chairs, I'm off to do some sanding, have a good weekend one and all.
