Darkness to Light

In case you were wondering if my whole weekend was chair related..it wasn't! I managed to squeeze in a trip to Salisbury Cathedral which really is the most ridiculously beautiful building, particularly on a clear November night and when it's lit only by candle light.

The service is to mark the beginning of advent and the coming of Christmas and most of the service is sung by the cathedral choristers. On top of this the service starts in complete darkness and is then gradually lit by candles as the choir move slowly around the cathedral. It is magical, or to use another word spiritual!

More chairs - just in time for Christmas shopping

I have had a crazy busy time this weekend, even though I took Friday off to try and get everything done. It's all been fun though and I have a whole new stash of pretty gorgeous chairs (if I do day so myself) ready to sell!

The Lyon Chair: 1940's cocktail chair with arms

The Melbourne Chair: 1940's cocktail chair

The Cadiz Chair: 1960's restored egg chair

The Porto Chair: 1940's spoke arm chair

If you are interested in buying any of these pieces, either got my shop at www.hickeyanddobson.bigcartel.com or visit my site on Not On The High Street www.notonthehighstreet.com/hickeyanddobson

And lastly, here's a picture of me looking mighty pleased with myself after photographing the last of the chairs before it got dark. Chairs, chairs everywhere!

Dawn dash!

One man's junk is another man's treasure... or that's what they say! Quite a lot of the stuff this morning was pretty junky really and I did wonder at points about the wisdom of a 5am start in the cold and rain!

New furniture..

Here is one of my new pieces, hot off the upholsterers bench! It is a 1940's cocktail sofa originally from Germany. It is available to buy from www.hickeyanddobson.bigcartel.com and www.notonthehighstreet.com/hickeyanddobson

This is another of my new pieces, a gorgeous 1940's bentwood chair. This one has already been snapped up but I have another identical chair which I am happy to complete as a bespoke order so do get in touch.  If I don't hear from you, no doubt you will see it up here in fabrics I've chosen in the near future.

Bye x
